I don’t know about you, but any time I rely on using cleansers that contain harsh chemicals to clean my kitchen, I feel a bit uneasy. There’s just something really unappetizing about spraying toxic substances onto the surfaces that I use to prepare my family’s meals! It just seems…well…wrong.
That’s why we’re sharing a video with you today that shines a spotlight on one of our all-time favorite DIY kitchen cleansers. Our trusty friends over at the YouTube channel HomeHandyHints show us that sometimes the most powerful grease-fighting solutions can be inexpensive, simple to make, and, best of all, SAFE!
This particular recipe focuses on an area that even we tend to neglect—the oven window! While we’re constantly focused on keeping our sink and countertops sparkling, we sometimes become lazy and develop an “out of sight, out of mind” philosophy when it comes to the oven.
That is, until that one day every couple of months when we turn on the light to check on a pizza and we can’t even see through the grimy glass!
Luckily, it’s much simpler to cut through those caked-on food particles than you may think. So, stop using noxious substances to remove the grit. Here’s the best way to clean that glass without sacrificing your health!
Your first step to a crystal clear oven window is to gather together these necessary materials:
- ¼ cup baking soda
- About ¼ cup of water
- Small mixing bowl
Note: This blend should be enough to cover your entire glass area. It will not keep for long, though, so make sure that you make a new mixture before each cleaning!
- Begin by measuring exactly one-quarter of a cup of baking soda and tossing it into the mixing bowl
- Hold your spoon in one hand and a pitcher of water in the other. Pour a small amount of water into the bowl and stir. Repeat this until the baking soda resembles a paste.
- Once the consistency is relatively thick, stir until all lumps and bumps have vanished. The end result should have the same texture as toothpaste.
Our absolute favorite part about this cleaning solution is that the two ingredients used—baking soda and water—are virtually harmless. The video’s narrator explains that the recipe calls for “no harsh chemicals whatsoever.” He even goes on to say that the substances found in baking soda are “so safe, you can even eat them.” He’s right about that!
Now that you have received a full tutorial on how to successfully make your very own two-ingredient oven glass cleaner, it’s time for you to learn about the best technique to remove the grime. To find out more, be sure to click on HomeHandyHints video below. It’s time to get that oven clean again!
