Blackened Brussels Sprouts

Cook time: 45 Min Prep time: 10 Min Serves: 6

Ingredients:

11/2 lb fresh brussel sprouts
6 slice bacon
1 c chopped onion
1 can(s) tomato sauce
2 tsp chopped garlic
1 Tbsp sugar
2 can(s) water in tomato sauce can
2 tsp knorr tomato bouillon with chicken flavor
1/2 Tbsp zatarain’s garlic and herb seasoning
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp coarse ground black pepper

Directions:

1. Prepare Brussels sprouts by rinsing with cold water, removing tough ends and slicing from top to half way down each sprout.
2. Place bacon in hot deep frying pan. add chopped onion and brussel sprouts on top of bacon. After bacon is nice and brown, flip mixture till onions and brussel sprouts are in bacon drippings. Cook on medium high till sprouts are very brown on all sides.
3. Pour 8 oz. of tomato sauce in pan and add tomato bouillon to water in can. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer till tender. 45 to 60 min.
