The argument could be made that the Microsoft Surface line is a competing product, but I'm excluding it from discussion because it's not a tablet in the traditional sense--it runs on Windows and is first and foremost a laptop. For printed characters, the Samsung Notes app had no trouble at all identifying words accurately in my scribbles and retrieving the right results when searching by keyword. It also held up when I pushed it further by sneaking in a session of Cooking Dash, which typically lags a bit on my Pixel 3.

Samsung boasts the best tablet display in the business when it comes to creating and watching media. Powering the Tab S6 from the inside is a Snapdragon 855 processor and either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. DeX alone makes it more capable than competing products by giving it a mode that feels like a desktop OS; also, it's priced very competitively, and it seems to be designed for power users. There was a lot of inconsistency around whether the browser app was pulling a desktop version of a site and which apps had been optimized for the desktop environment.

In addition, not-so-hardcore gamers can be a target audience, as the Samsung Tab S6 is very powerful and scores high with its good graphics and the sound system in terms of entertainment. One attaches to the rear of the Tab S6 and protects the S-Pen, while the other section consists of the keyboard and snaps to the pins magnetically.

Similarly, the impressive display and tuned sound profile make the tablet a great multimedia device.

I wrote this review on the Galaxy Tab S6. But Samsung has improved its handwriting-recognition software to the point where it's not just more accurate at identifying what you've written -- it also automatically converts your scribbles in the background. Another major target group are young people, such as high-school pupils and university students. Also, Chrome still doesn't automatically load the desktop version of websites, and for some reason, there are two screenshot shortcuts on the taskbar. Then there are the cameras. However, in my opinion, the S Pen still performs best in its capacity as an actual stylus. The Galaxy Tab S6 can get you through a full day of work.

This applies to editing video, too, where the stylus helps you make precise trims to video timelines. Oh, Dex. I was also pleasantly surprised by the Tab S6's battery life -- it made it through a recent two-day journey from Germany to New York, including an eight-hour flight, with plenty of juice to spare.

So that means you can technically add microSD cards up to 1 TB, resulting in a total of 1,25 TB of storage, which is more that plenty enough room for your creative content. All these apps ran well on the tablet, except for the obvious limitations that were due to screen size.

You can get Samsung's new two-piece keyboard cover too for an extra $180. Meanwhile, the Tab S6 working in standard Android mode is an excellent, super-fast media consumption device and photo-editing powerhouse.
