Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon shortening

1/8 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup + 2 tbsp buttermilk

1/2 cup oil

Directions:

Step 1: In a medium mixing bowl, sift the baking powder, flour, and salt.

Step 2: Add in the shortening and stir until well mixed.

Step 3: In a small mixing bowl, add the buttermilk and baking soda. Stir until well mixed.

Step 4: Transfer the buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture and stir until well mixed.

Step 5: Sprinkle flour on a flat surface place the dough.

Step 6: Roll it to about 1/4-inch thick and slice it with a biscuit cutter into squares.

Step 7: Dip each biscuit into the oil. Place them on a greased baking sheet.

Step 8: Place it inside the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 500 degrees F or until the colour turns brown.

Step 9: Remove from the oven.

Step 10: Serve and enjoy!
